3, 2, 1, Launch! SellYourSmellyHouse.com is a go!

sellyoursmellyhouse.com

Armed with nothing more than a satchel full of door hangers and a few posters, we took to the streets of Downtown Vancouver Washington. The web page isn't completely up to speed but if I waited util everything was just perfect, we would never launch. It is better to get it launched and then make adjustments as we go. Ready. Fire! Aim.

We met a few folks and let them know what we were up to. (That keeps them from calling the cops on "the suspicious fellow who keeps go up to everyone's door!) A few dogs, no cops, the sun was shining, the people were great, and we got a bit of excercise.

Yes, I have put together a group of investors who are passionate about the Downtown Vancouver area. This should be a fun project and it will be nice to see folks making an effort to revitalize some of the "not so nice" parts of town.

I got a good laugh out of your sign Mark...Good luck with your new marketing venture. I am sure you'll get some bites on that. We need more good humor in this crazy market.

Mark, now that is one service that is socially useful!  Even my house gets a little wet dog/kitty litter combo.  I should check out your site.

Cute. Sounds like a really creative way to find investment properties. Best Wishes!!

Mark,

If that works you can move to other parts of the country and sell "slightly submerged" or "mobile means mobile"

good luck

It's great that you've organized investors to help vitalize the neighborhood. I love to see agents that combine social responsibility with good business strategy.

Sellyoursmellyhouse.com sounds like a great venture.  Good Luck with that. Very Clever indeed.  You should add your phone # to the website though, you know give the owners of "smelly houses" a way to contact you.

Soooo..... have you bought any smelly houses yet????

Mark,

Very interesting...

I think I see one problem ... most people don't realize it when their own house smells.  Perhaps you should set up an anonymous tip line?

Posted by Joetta Fort - Realtor Denver Colorado Real Estate (The DiGiorgio Group) 6 months ago

GREAT POST!!!

Wish some listing agents would tell their sellers that the house STINKS!  I have looked at more stinky houses in the last couple of months than I care to remember.  Maybe the sellers don't smell it??

The site is great and should attract a lot of attention.

Mark - Thanks for the laugh.  What an ingenious marketing ply.  Now if only people had a realistic view of their homes and could identify if they fit into the category of smelly.

Posted by Lora "Leah" Stern, Realtor Rockland County Real Estate (Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage) 6 months ago

That is great and will probably get you some business too.  Let us know how it goes.

Do you know what investors say when they walk into a house that stinks?

"Ah! That's the smell of money"

Posted by Tammy Fullriede (Bale Realty) 6 months ago

Great timing. We are frozen solid here, but as soon as it starts to thaws near you I bet you will be getting a lot of calls.

Posted by Dana Hollish Hill, Exclusive Buyer's Agent (Buyer's Edge Company, Inc.) 6 months ago

That's a cleaver idea Mark. Best of luck to you.

I like what Todd said, what if it isn't the house but the sellers themselves? Remember, if you smell it you can't sell it!  Old wives tale?

Posted by Lyn Sims - Northwest Suburbs (Schaumburg Homes - RE/MAX Suburban) 6 months ago

I hope you'll keep us posted on your new campaign.  Do you think people with smelly housese might be afraid to admit it?!
